Anti- Crime Rally To Feature Biking, Running And Walking Sessions

By Curtis Morton

An anti-crime rally will be hosted this coming Saturday -21st April.

It is being coordinated by the Rehoboth Apostolic church, which is hosting a convocation this week under the theme: “If the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

Chief coordinator of the event, Mr. Winston Perkins is indicating that it will have several facets to it.

Interested persons will gather at the Oualie Beach resort at 5.30 am for an official start time of 6 am.

They will be dressed in appropriate exercise wear, as those who are running and walking, will run or walk from Oualie, along the island main road, through the area of Cottle’s church, down Shaw’s road, back on the island main road and then back to Oualie.

The bikers on the other hand, will ride from Oualie to the St. James’ Anglican Church and return to Oualie.

In this regard, the church will be receiving assistance from well-known Triathlete, Mr. Reggie Douglas, who is actually offering the service of his bikes for the day. Interested persons can contact him at 664-0992, so that he can get their various heights and have the appropriate bikes ready for them.

At the completion of the run, walk and bike sessions, a health fair and rally will be held in the adjoining lot to the Oualie Hotel, where Ministers of religion and Ministers of government, will unite in the call for the community at large, to cease from criminal activity and anti-social behaviour, on a whole.

The event will climax with a healthy breakfast.

Perkins noted that a small registration fee of $35.00 EC would get persons T-shirts and also the breakfast.

He is hoping that other communities will catch the vibes and host similar activities within their specific communities, so that the Nevisian community can return to the tranquil, beautiful paradise that it was known to be.
