Saint Kitts and Nevis: Two St Kitts and Nevis athletes have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020, Jason Rogers and Amya Clarke. They both would represent St. Kitts and Nevis in the 100m at this year’s Tokyo Olympics.
The announcement was made by SKNOC – St Kitts-Nevis Olympic Committee. This would be Jason’s third Olympic Games, and he would be competing in the men’s 100m while Olympic debutant Amya would take part in the women’s 100m.
Both the athletes and Coach Justin Kavanaugh leave for Tokyo on July 19 2021, while Lester Hanley, an Executive Member of the SKNOC, would be travelling in the capacity of Chef de Mission.
Hanley would travel ahead of the team to prepare for the arrival of the other members of the SKN Olympic Team. He would leave the Federation on Sunday, July 11, and would arrive in Tokyo on Tuesday, July 13.
The SKNOC further stated, “Given the tiny size of the team, the ongoing public health situation and the new safety and security protocols under which the Tokyo Games would be conducted.”
The two athletes, along with their coach, currently is in the USA included in continued training and competition engagements, are likely to travel to Tokyo on Monday, July 19.
The citizens and SKNOC have extended their best wishes to the Olympic team of the nation and stated that they have trust in the athletes that they would give their best and would make the country proud.
Jason Aliston Rogers was born on August 31, 1991, in Sandy Point is a sprinter of Saint Kitts and Nevis, who is a specialist in 100 meters.
Rogers had helped win a bronze medal for St Kitts and Nevis as a part of the 4×100 m relay at the – 2008 Central American and Caribbean Championships held in Cali, Colombia.
Rogers has also finished 6th in the 100 meters final of the 2010 World Junior Championships in Moncton, Canada
