Athletics First Qualifier for CARIFTA Announced

On Sunday, January 19th, the St. Kitts-Nevis Athletic Association (SKNAA) held a development meet at the Nevis Athletic Stadium. This event was sponsored by Powerade and aptly named “The Powerade Classic.”

Athletes competed in various events, including shot put, javelin, high jump, long jump, and races of 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, and 3000 meters.

After the meet, the SKNAA announced that Kezia Phillip is St. Kitts and Nevis’ first qualifier for the upcoming 2025 CARIFTA Games, which will take place in Trinidad in April.

Ms Phillip achieved a personal best throw of 10.56 meters in the U17 Female Shot Put event, surpassing the qualifying standard of 10.50 meters.

Kezia, a 14-year-old student at Gingerland Secondary School, trains with the Phase Track Club.
