As the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School (EPPS) hosted its annual Relay Fes’, on Sunday 21st January, one of the chief officials, missing in action, was Chief Judge and Athletics enthusiast, Joseph Liburd.
The meet officially commenced with a word of prayer by the Permanent Secretary in the Human Resources Department, Mr Kevin Barrett and then a moment’s silence in honour of the recently departed Liburd, was held.
Paying tribute to his memory, were former Olympian, Kurvin Wallace and Adelvin Phillip, who all shared the same birth date with Liburd and track official, Jeffrey Lewis, along with Permanent Secretary Barrett, who all spoke to the consistency at meets of Liburd and the high standards that he set and demanded in executing his duties.
To a man, they all noted that he will be sorely missed.
