Athletics: SKN Moves Nevis Chapter Hosts Half Island Walk Relay

On Saturday, December 7th, the SKN Moves Nevis Chapter successfully hosted its highly anticipated Half-Island Walk Relay. Originally postponed twice, the event was finally realised with creative adjustments to accommodate our team. A last-minute addition completed our team of five, which we aptly named Fabulous Uno, as we had no competitors.

Undeterred by the lack of additional teams, we adhered to the planned route and relay handover stations, ensuring the essence of the event was preserved. The team began the walk at 6:00 a.m. and completed it in two hours under ideal weather conditions. Thanks to the dedicated support of the Red Cross team, the relay proceeded smoothly, with chaperones ensuring our safety from the starting point to the finish line at the Villa Grounds in Charlestown.

At the finish line, we were warmly greeted by Ms. Latoya Jeffers, Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Gender Affairs, and Mr. Franchette Manners, who represented Auto Zone One, one of our proud sponsors.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors, including Auto Zone One, the Ministry of Health, Horsford’s IGA Valu Mart, and Nevis Cinema, whose contributions made this event possible. A special thank you also goes to the SKN Moves Nevis Chapter Committee members for their tireless efforts in making the relay a success.

Though we may be small in numbers, our spirit remains strong. We are Tallawah!
