Bail application of Cuban national denied by Magistrate Clarke

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- At the District ‘C’ Magistrate Court on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 Ricardo Enrique Blanco a national of Cuba but who resides at Bath Village was denied bail for the second time by Her Honor, Yasmine Clarke.

It was reported that sometime between June 5 and September 15, 2013 Blanco received a United States passport valued at E.C. $297.00. Sometime during that period Blanco tried to use the passport to travel to the United States and while at the airport, authorities realized that the document was false and was reported stolen.

On September 26, 2013 the accused applied for bail at the Magistrate’s Court and it was denied. Attorney, Ricaldo Caines for a second time asked the court for bail for his client, but his bail application was again denied by Her Honor, Yasmine Clarke. She was of the view that if the accused could get one false passport, there was nothing preventing him from getting another.

Blanco remains remanded at Her Majesty’s Prison, St. Kitts.
