Blue Dominates At JLPS

The Joycelyn Liburd Primary School held its annual sports meet on Thursday 7th March at the Gingerland Recreation grounds. The meet was held under the patronage of former sprinter at the school, Ellery Rivers.

A sizeable crowd showed up to have a close up view of the athletes from the former Inter primary champion school. Headmistress Barbara Hendrickson, true to the tradition previously established by former Headmistress Marion Lescott, commenced bang on 12:30 p.m.

There were some really exciting races as the athletes tested their skills in the 400; 800; 200; 1200 and 100 meters races. There was also a new innovation which was a definite crowd pleaser—the 60 meters hurdles.

The afternoon climaxed with the 4×100 and the 4×400 relays which served to end the meet on a high note.

When the smoke from the many barbecue grills around the ground cleared, the final point standings were;
Blue House – Champions—444 points
Green House — 418 points
Red House – 287 points
