Brazen high day armed robbery of Dupont Jewelry Store, Charlestown

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Charlestown was shaken up moments ago when the sound of gunshots rang out across the capital.

This media house has learnt that sometime after 3:00 p.m. two masked gunmen entered the business place of Dupont’s Jewelry Store that is situated in the Solomon’s Arcade, Charlestown and robbed the proprietor of a number of items.

According to reports the gunmen then made an escape by running through a side entrance of the building, and exited on Upper Prince William Street.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the owner ran after the bandits. However, when the gunmen realized they were being followed they fired shots at the owner.

Further information revealed that the two bandits made an escape by running up Marian’s Avenue, Charlestown.

The crime scene including the side streets used to escape were analyzed and processed. Police officers were able to find the empty shell casings in close proximity to a building on Jew’s Street, Charlestown.

Police investigations are continuing in the matter.
