Brothers Receive Bail with Conditions

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 16, 2018 (RSCNPF): Brothers Travonne and Tivonne Bryant, both of Brick Kiln, were granted bail at the High Court in Charlestown Nevis on July 11, 2018.

They were arrested and charged by both the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise Department following a bust at the Vance Amory International Airport that involved a firearm and cocaine being found. At the time of the arrest, both men worked at the Airport – Travonne Bryant as a Customs Officer and Tivonne Bryant as a Port Officer.

Both men were charged by the Police for the offences of Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition, Smuggling, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply. Travonne was also given thirteen (13) charges by the Customs and Excise Department: four (4) counts of Importation of a Restricted Good not in Accordance with the Conditions and Restrictions Imposed, four (4) counts of Importation of a Quantity of Goods Packed in a Manner Intended or Appearing to Deceive a Customs Officer, four (4) counts of Attempted Fraudulent Evasion and one (1) count of Removal of Goods from a Customs Controlled Area.

They both received bail in the sum of $30,000 with two sureties each. Their bail conditions are as follows: (1) they are to surrender all travel documents; (2) they are to report to the New Castle Police Station daily between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m.; and (3) they are to observe a curfew between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly.
