Bushwhackers Defeats Beaters

It was a highly touted game and spectators showed up in their numbers to witness what was supposed to be a cliff hanger, between Beaters and Bushwhackers.

The action was in the ongoing Village Premier league (VPL), played at the Hard times Playing field, on Sunday 6th May.

Beaters batted first and as was expected, got off to a rollicking start, complements of Captain Adelvin Phillip and Junior DUNCAN Mills.

However, once they were separated, the home team was back into the game and wickets tumbled at regular intervals.

Given a paltry target of 73 for victory, Beaters were in with a chance, as they got rid of main man Carlon Smithen, very early, but Huggins and Allen combined to ensure that there were no further hiccups and finished the match on the gallop for the loss of one wicket.

Summarized scores: Beaters: 72 for 8: Adelvin Phillip 16; Junior Mills 14; Liburd 11

Bushwhackers 75 for 1: Huggins 39; Allen 19

Bushwhackers winning by 9 wickets

Torrential rains brought an abrupt end to game number two, between Hanley’s Road and Easterns.

Hanley’s Road was on 11 for no loss in the second over when the rains came.

It is understood that that match will be replayed, this coming Sunday.
