She was surrounded by some family members, friends and a contingent from the Ministry of Social Development, led by Hon. Eric Evelyn, who indicated that from a very early age, CATHY had adopted him as her son.
The brief ceremony was chaired by Seniors’ Division Coordinator, Miss Trudy Prentice and involved a prayer, a scripture reading and the singing of the celebrant’s favourite hymn ‘On Christ the solid rock I stand.’
In presenting CATHY with a plaque and fruit basket, from his Ministry, in collaboration with the City drugstore, Minister Evelyn described his adopted mother as ‘the life of the party.’
He noted that even though she was originally born in St. Vincent, she went to England at an early age and later made Nevis her home, after her Nevisian husband of blessed memory, brought her here to stay.
He noted that she now calls Nevis HOME.
Other items on the program included the lighting of candles on the birthday cake and the singing of the birthday song.
CATHY, in her lengthy response, thanked God and thanked her family members, friends and the Ministry of Social Development and her adopted son, for helping to make her significant birthday a memorable one.
