Charlestown Primary School Hosts Gala Awards Event

Charlestown-Nevis-As part of a range of activities to commemorate its 30th year of existence, the Charlestown Primary School hosted a GALA cocktail event, at the conference room at the Malcolm Guishard Park, on the evening of Saturday 28th May.

Teachers, past and present, who have contributed to the success of the school, took the opportunity to ‘let down their hair’ and put on their ‘DAN-DAN.’

Teachers and other staff members who have taught at the school for ten years and more, received special awards, along with some long standing supporters of the school.

Included in the persons giving remarks on the special night, were: Her Honour, Deputy Governor General-Mrs. Hyleta Liburd; Junior Minister of Education-Hon. Troy Liburd; Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education-Mr. Kevin Barrett; Deputy Principal Education Officer-Ms. Londa Brown and Headmistress at the School, Mrs. Cheryl Haynes.

All of the speakers lauded the school for the many achievements throughout the years, recognizing the initial start at the Charlestown Infant and Junior Schools and the many adversities faced over time.

The speeches were preceded by prayer delivered by Ms. Delicia Julius; Steelpan renditions by Junior Parris and the playing of the national anthem.
There was also a fun element to the proceedings, as teachers and other members of the audience had the opportunity to answer school related questions and win handsome prizes.

Another highlight of the evening was the official launch of the school’s website which is intended to keep the general public updated with school related events and general information.
