Chase Keeps Calm as He Guides Hamilton Xi To Three-Wicket Win

GROS ISLET, Saint Lucia – Roston Chase completed as good allround match performance as he guided the Jahmar Hamilton XI to victory over the Jermaine Blackwood XI on the fourth and final morning of the “Best v Best” match.

Chase made 45 not out which took his team to a three-wicket win as they reached 313-7 – the highest score of the match in the fourth innings. The winning moment came just before lunch on Thursday when left-hander Keron Cottoy hook a bouncer from Keon Harding to the fine leg boundary. Cottoy closed 19 not out as he helped Chase add an unbroken 61 for the eighth wicket.

Earlier in the same over from Harding, Chase played the shot the day when he hoisted a length ball way over the long-on boundary for a glorious six. The tall all-rounder was one of the main performers in the match – with a first innings score of 35 as well as five wickets in the match – including a crucial 4-44 which caused a slide when the Blackwood XI batted in the first innings.

Off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall was the leading bowler with 3-99 from a marathon 32 overs. Overall, he sent down 43 overs in the match and took four wickets for 132 runs. He accounted for the key wicket of left-hander Raymon Reifer, who made a vital 32 off 84 balls as he shared a 50-run partnership with Paul Palmer jr, who made 23 off 86 balls.
