Child Month Parade was a huge success

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)– It was a carnival like feeling in Charlestown this morning as the island’s youngest members along with their parents, teachers and Education officials marched through Charlestown for the annual Child Month Parade today Friday, June 12, 2015.

Minister of Youth in the Federal Cabinet, Hon. Shawn Richards, the Premier of Nevis, Hon. Vance Amory and his colleagues in the Nevis Island Administration Cabinet also joined with the children to celebrate the event.

The parade began at the Nevis Cultural Centre and culminated at the ET Willet Park. Infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers neatly adorned in their grey tops happily made their way through Main Street, Charlestown as they celebrated the 31st anniversary of Child Month in St. Kitts and Nevis under the theme, ‘Serving Children with Love & Dignity’.

Older students from the various primary schools in Nevis dressed in their school’s t-shirt were also a part of the march.

The beat of the drums and other instruments along with the sweet sound of gospel music emanating from various sound systems generated a lot of excitement for not only persons in the march, but also, for those who gathered on the side of the road to watch the happy throng of marchers go by. Many individuals left their offices to witness the tremendous parade; as the parade wound its way through Charlestown.

Principal Education Officer in the Department of Education on Nevis, Mrs. Palsy Wilkin, commended those who made the celebration successful. She stated that she was pleased with the parade. Mrs. Wilkin lauded the efforts of the coordinators. She congratulated Mrs. Dawnny Lanns at the Early Childhood Unit for her Department’s hard work to successfully stage the event.

Mrs. Dawny Lanns expressed satisfactory on the success of the parade.
