Children benefit from TDC Business Centre’s Shop and Share Initiative

Basseterre, St. Kitts – Expressions of appreciation, tears of joy, and smiling faces are just some of the emotions shown when representatives of the TDC Group presented them with an assortment of much needed school supplies.

The valuable assistance was made possible through the TDC Business Centre’s Shop and Share initiative that saw twelve (12) children receive the school essentials from the charity activity, which was launched in August, as part of the retail outlet’s Back to School promotion.

The venture was open to all customers and clients who made purchases instore to help those who would not be in a position to afford or purchase some of the basic reading and writing materials required for the start of the new school year.

Exercise books, backpacks, paper, crayons, activity books, pencils, pens, glue, markers, folders, erasers, as well as, arts and crafts materials, among others, were placed in specially constructed Yellow School Bus that was conveniently parked at the Point of Sale counter.  All of the donated items were later sorted by staff and distributed based on the child’s needs.

According to Mr. Alphonse Pennyfeather, Manager of the TDC Business Centre, “we are very pleased and grateful to the public for their overwhelming support of this endeavour. With their assistance, we have collectively and positively impact the lives of many young persons through giving.”

He also noted that the success of the idea has led management to commit to making the cause an annual activity to benefit more children as they strive to academic success.

The Shop and Share endeavour now forms parts of the Group’s existing Corporate Social Responsibility programmes that further promote educational excellence.
