Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 01, 2016 (SKNIS): The smiles of the residents at the St. Christopher Children’s Home were made a bit brighter on Friday (April 01) when gift bags tailored to each child was presented by members of the Bardsey Cricket Club (BCC).
A cash donation and a large bag of toiletries and other essential items were also presented by the group out of England who are currently visiting St. Kitts and Nevis on a sports tourism venture.
Kevin Kelly, a member of BCC, said while planning the visit the group learnt of the facility and was eager to make a donation.
“Everybody in the community decided to step up and try and give and do fundraising to make a cash donation,” he said. “We also got the names of the children and made individual bags up.”
Mr. Kelly described the twin-island federation as “superb” and added that “it’s a pleasure for us to be able to come and give something back to the people.”
Administrator of the Children’s Home, Margaret Stevens, accepted the gifts and applauded the generosity of the BCC members. She assured them the donations will assist with the care of the children.
Kittitian Harwood Williams, who currently resides in the United Kingdom, and who coordinated the group’s visit said that the BCC remains committed to assisting the development of the facility and encouraged the administrator to call on them should a need arise in the future.
