Churches Reopen on Nevis

Charlestown, Nevis – In accordance with the lifting of some aspects of the Covid-19 regulations, churches on Nevis, duly swung open their doors on Sunday, May 24, 2020

On Saturday (Sabbath) 23rd May, despite the fact that the green light was given the previous day, the Seventh Day Adventist churches on Nevis, remained closed.

A statement from Pastor Delroy Josiah indicated that the various church boards across the island will meet during this coming week, to properly plan for the reopening of the churches, in order to ensure that all of the established protocols are in place.

However, several churches held services on Sunday, while some others remained closed.

The Nevis Covid-19 Compliance team, visited some thirteen churches on that day and it was noted that those that were holding services, generally adhered to the established protocols, which included but not limited to the following:

Registration book at the point of entry; sanitizing station; wearing of masks; social distancing-except for members of the same household and concluding services within the stipulated time frame.
