Coach hails A-class West Indies A Team

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados — Coach Junior Bennett said he is quite pleased with the development of several players during the recent West Indies A Team tour of India. He identified opening batsman Kraigg Brathwaite and fast bowler Miguel Cummins as two players “who performed brilliantly” during the month-long tour.

“I was very impressed with young Cummins. He worked really hard and stood up on every occasion. I believe he has what it takes to move on to the next level and we should really invest in him. He is a really good talent for West Indies cricket,” Bennett said.

“The spin bowling was also very good. When you look at the stats in the ‘Test’ matches Nikita Miller bowled over 140 overs and Permaul bowled over 90 overs and they were consistent throughout. Credit to our bowlers, they did exceptionally well on those surfaces.”

The coach was speaking after the team returned to the Caribbean on Tuesday.

West Indies came from behind to beat India 2-1 in the ODIs. India A won the one-off T20, while the three-match four-day series ended 1-1.
