CHARLESTOWN, Nevis –July 03rd, 2015 : Eighteen students from five Primary Schools on Nevis will this Sunday July 5th, take to the stage at the Caribbean Cove for the launch of the Culturama 41 Mr. and Ms. Talented Youth Pageant contestants and the Junior Kaiso participants.
This launch is seen as a historic event as it the first time there will be a launch of the Junior Kaisonians in over two decades since the Junior Kaiso Contest was introduced to the Culturama calendar of activities. It is however customary to have a launch of the Mr. and Ms. Talented Youth Pageant contestants but this year both sub-committees decided to collaborate on this event thus making it a somewhat unique, creative and spectacular launch. Each of the contestants will make three appearances on stage. These appearances will be captioned Culture, Fete and Fun. In the cultural appearance the contestants would be dressed in cultural costumes depicting the various folk traditions of Nevis such as Masquerades, Cow Boys and Indians and Cakewalk to name a few.
Ms. Patricia Claxton, past chairperson of the Mr. and Ms. Talented Youth Pageant sub-committee from 1993 to 1998 will be the esteemed patron for the launch while the KORE Band will provide musical entertainment for the afternoon.
The Mr. and Ms. Talented Youth Pageant and Junior Kaiso Contest will once again be held as a joint event this year thus giving patrons the opportunity to enjoy two shows for the price of one. The contest will be held at the Cultural Complex on Sunday July 26th, 2015 at 7:00 pm.
The reigning Mr. and Ms. Talented Youth Pageant winners are Jadan Liburd and Vanessa Hull of the Charlestown Primary School while the Junior Kaiso King is the Mighty Sookie of the Charlestown Secondary School.
