The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons brought the tournament-leading Guyana Amazon Warriors crashing back to earth on Tuesday night, registering a commanding 65-run victory when the two teams met in Guyana.
Batting first, the Falcons posted a formidable 182 for 5, with Nawaz scoring 36 and Shadab Khan contributing 30 to lead the scoring.
The Amazon Warriors appeared to be off to a flying start in their reply, but their momentum was abruptly halted when Alzarri Joseph struck in devastating fashion, claiming three crucial wickets in a rapid spell that triggered a dramatic collapse.
The Warriors never recovered, eventually being bowled out for just 117 in 14.2 overs.
Dindyal, with 25, and Nabi, with 23, were the principal scorers for the home side, but there was little else to celebrate as the Falcons’ bowlers took complete control.
Joseph was the chief destroyer, finishing with outstanding figures of 4 for 41, as the Falcons completed a comprehensive 65-run triumph.
Shadab Khan was named Player of the Match for his influential all-round contribution.
