CPS Overpowers Determined VOJN

The Charlestown Primary School came away eventual winners after a tough contest versus the VOJN Primary School, on Wednesday 3rd July.

This, as the action continued in the Runako Morton/TDC sponsored Primary schools’ Cricket championship.
VOJN batted first and showed marked improvement over their first match, when they were skittled out for a mere 43 versus the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School.

This time around, the batsmen put a huge prize on their wickets and led by young Didder, got to a competitive 52 for 1 from their allotted ten overs, in the shortened encounter.

The Charlestown Primary School was made to struggle all the way but eventually got to the target, much to the relief of their supportive fan base, for the loss of 5 wickets.
Summarized scores:
VOJN 52 for 1 in 10 overs:
R. Didder 21;
Gonzaley 8
J. Tyson 1 for 7

CPS 54 for 5 in 8.5 overs:
Elijah Joseph 12;
Chris Watson 9
Delroy Prentice 2 for 6;
R. Didder 1 for 2;
Kimarie 1 for 7 and Adonijah 1 for 13

CPS won by 5 wickets.
It is understood that the semifinal matches will be played during the course of next week, as this week has seen the start of the usual schools’ graduations and so the upcoming matches will have to be carefully planned so as not to coincide with such events.
The announcement of the final four teams is also eagerly awaited.
