CPS Sends Strong Warning at Annual Sports Meet

By:Curtis Morton

The Charlestown Primary School sounded a strong warning to all and sundry on Wednesday 24th February, as they prepare for the grand Inter Primary event on March 30th.

On that day, the school held its annual sports meet at the ET Willet Park, under the joint patronage of two of its former outstanding athletes: Tiana Liburd and Ishan Todman.

Both patrons indicated that they felt honoured to be asked to fill the prestigious positions on the big day and encouraged the athletes to excel, when they formally met with them after an impressive march past.

The athletes then thrilled the many spectators as they featured in such races as the 400; 1200; 100; 800; 200; 4X100 and 4X400 meters.

It was obvious that some of the athletes have been watching a lot of international track events on television or the internet. One completed a victory roll after winning a particular race and another did a Usain Bolt imitation on winning another event.

At the end of the day, it was the Blue house posse in celebration mode, as they secured championship honours by a winning margin of 34 points over second placed Green house.
