Cricket : Australia Under-19 Hold Nerve to Defeat West Indies Under-19 in Super Six Thriller

HARARE, ZIMBABWE  — Australia Under-19 edged past West Indies Under-19 by 22 runs in a high-scoring Super Six encounter of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026 at Harare Sports Club on Tuesday.

Batting first, Australia Under-19 posted an imposing 314 for 7 from their allotted 50 overs, laying down a challenging target on a good batting surface. Their innings were built on solid partnerships and disciplined shot selection, keeping the scoreboard ticking throughout.

In reply, West Indies Under-19 mounted a spirited chase and were in contention for much of the innings, eventually finishing on 292 for 9 at the end of their 50 overs. Despite a determined batting effort and moments of momentum, the Caribbean side fell just short as Australia’s bowlers held their nerve in the closing stages.

The match proved to be a competitive contest between two quality youth sides, with both teams showcasing depth, resilience, and attacking intent. While the West Indies will take positives from their batting display, Australia’s all-round performance ultimately secured them a valuable Super Six victory.

West Indies Under-19 will now regroup as they continue their Super Six campaign, aiming to rebound strongly in their remaining fixtures.
