Cricket : Australia Women Defeat West Indies Women to Seal T20I Series

Australia Women secured a hard-fought 17-run victory over West Indies Women in the second T20 International at the Arnos Vale Ground, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Batting first, Australia Women posted a competitive total of 164 for 5 from their 20 overs, with key contributions from Ellyse Perry (42) and Georgia Voll (39), who provided early momentum.

In reply, West Indies Women fought bravely but fell short at 147 for 4, led by captain Hayley Matthews, who scored an impressive 56. Deandra Dottin added an unbeaten 39, but the hosts were unable to keep up with the required run rate.

Australia’s disciplined bowling attack, spearheaded by Alana King, ensured that the West Indies chase never fully gained momentum, with crucial wickets falling at key intervals.

The victory not only handed Australia the match but also sealed the T20I series with one game still to play. Despite the loss, West Indies showed resilience, particularly through Matthews’ half-century and Dottin’s late surge.

The teams are set to meet again in the third and final T20I, where West Indies Women will be aiming to salvage pride, while Australia Women will look to complete a clean sweep of the series.
