CRICKET | Bangladesh Defeats West Indies in First ODI

October 18, 2025 – Bangladesh claimed a convincing 74-run victory over the West Indies in the first One Day International of the ongoing series.

Batting first, Bangladesh posted a modest total of 207 all out in 49.4 overs, with key contributions from Towhid Hridoy (51) and Jaker Ali Ankon (46). For the West Indies, Jayden Seales impressed with 3 for 48, while Roston Chase picked up 2 for 30.

In reply, the West Indies got off to a solid start with an opening partnership of 51 runs between Brandon King (44) and Alick Athanaze (27). However, once Athanaze was trapped lbw, the innings unravelled quickly under the pressure of Rishad Hossain, who tore through the middle and lower order to finish with a match-winning haul of 6 for 35.

The West Indies were bowled out for just 133 in 39 overs, handing Bangladesh a comfortable win and an early lead in the series.
