Cricket : Charlestown Primary Beat VOJN On Duckworth/Lewis Method.

What was set up to be a very intriguing finish, was effectively washed out by heavy rains, as the Charlestown Primary School (CPS) , engaged the Violet OJ Nicholls Primary School (VOJN), in the most anticipated fixture of the 2023 Runako Morton/TDC Primary Schools cricket competition.

The match was played on Wednesday 28th June, at the ET Willet Park, in front of a sizeable and vociferous crowd.

CPS won the toss and bravely asked the VOJN team to bat first.

They may well have regretted that decision, as Deshawn James and De’ Morae Prentice, teamed up in a splendid unbroken partnership, to take their team to 95 for no loss, from their 10 overs.

However, some ragged bowling by the VOJN Primary team and a fair helping of extras got the CPS team right back into the game.

When the rain halted play at 75 for 3, CPS required 20 runs from 12 balls.

The Duckworth/ Lewis method was applied and it was adjudged that CPS had won by a mere 1 run!

Summarized scores: VOJN 95 for no loss in 10 overs: Deshawn James 41*; De ’Morae Prentice 31*; 23 EXTRAS

CPS 75 for 3 in 8 overs: Kardeem Taylor 12*; Casheem Taylor 9; Atish Persaud 9; Nicholas Hero 9; 36 EXTRAS
Kamari France 1 for 26

Charlestown Primary won by 1 run on the Duckworth/Lewis Method.
