Even though they had already secured the one-day series versus England, South Africa was at the wrong end of a bitter thrashing from England in the third one-day match on Sunday.

England batted first and scored a mammoth 414 for 5 in their 50 overs, on the back of centuries by Joe Root and Jacob Bethell.

When South Africa batted, they were routed for just 72, with Jofra Archer having the front-line batsmen hopping around in their creases, with his searing pace.

He picked up four wickets in the process, and the South Africans never recovered.

Summarised scores:
England 414 for 5: Jacob Bethell 110, Joe Root 100
Bosch and Maharaj 2 wickets each
South Africa-72-Bosch 20
Archer 4 for 18, Rashid 3 for 13
England won by all of 342 runs
