Cricket : Top Awards Presented for NCA 35 And 40 Overs Tournament

Immediately following the grand finals of the 40 overs tournament, hosted by the Nevis Cricket Association, on Sunday 21st August, the presentation ceremony of awards to the top performers was held.

The proceedings were ably chaired by Ketwe Webbe; the national anthem was played and the invocation was done by President of the Nevis Cricket Association, Carlisle Powell.

In his opening remarks, President Powell noted that it was not a ‘one-man show’ and lauded his Association’s executive members for their hard work and sacrifice. He pointed to recent success stories of selection of local players to regional teams.

Director of Sports on Nevis, Jamir Claxton, represented Minister of Sports, Hon. Eric Evelyn and congratulated the NCA for its dedication to the development and advancement of Cricket on the island and also congratulated the winning teams in the tournament.

Denrick Liburd, former NCA president and Ag Manager of the Bank of Nevis-main sponsor of the tournament, vowed his institution’s continued commitment to assisting the NCA in the development of Cricket on the island.

The awards to the top performers in the tournament were presented by various key individuals present, as follows:

Most runs-1st division-Jamie Cornelius

Most runs-2nd division- Bodgnarine Sharma

Most wickets 1st division–Anderson Amurdan and Adrian Willaims-13 wickets each

Most wickets -2nd division-Curtis Morton Sr-12 wickets

Most valuable player of the tournament-Jamie Cornelius

Most catches-1st division –Carlton Pluck

Most catches 2nd division- Bodgnarine Sharma

Most boundaries in the 2nd division finals-Duncan Mills, Peter Charles and Joel Simmonds-Sponsored by Dr. Janice Daniel Hodge

Most boundaries in the 1st division finals-Malik Semper- Sponsored by Dr. Janice Daniel Hodge

2nd division runner-up –Nevis Masters

1st division runner up-All Stars

2nd division champions-New Vision

1st division champions-Empire
