CSS Cops High Schools’ Cricket Championship Yet Again

By Curtis Morton

The Charlestown Secondary School (CSS) is the back to back champions of High Schools Cricket in the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

This feat was accomplished on Wednesday 25th April when they engaged the Washington Archibald High School at the Conaree ground.

CSS batted first and lost the wicket of T’jari Clarke very early but Justin Anderson and Shevon Jeffers teamed up in an enterprising partnership which yielded all of 147 runs.

Anderson was initially the one who was most enterprising but after he got out Jeffers upped the ante and he too holed out eventually.

Carlon Bowen Tuckett was stroking the ball nicely before he too was well caught at point and Sharma swung his bat lustily at the end to secure a few boundaries for his team.

The main wicket taker for the WAHS was B’Quan Powell, who bagged three scalps.

When the WAHS team batted they threatened the target initially on the back of a superlative ton by Jerilius Louis who hit all of 9 sixes and 11 fours before he was caught off the bowling of Carlon Bowen Tuckett.

Louis was so dominant that of the 67 runs opening partnership his opening partner Sargeant only scored 16.

Once he departed the remainder of the batting folded without a whisper.

Summarized scores: CSS: 253 for 6 from 33 overs:

Justin Anderson 82 (8X4 and 1X6); Shevon Jeffers 64; Trishawn Francis 34; Carlon Bowen Tuckett 19; Bodgenarine Sharma 17*

B’Quan Powell 3 for 48; Jerilius Louis 1 for 31; Cyril Vickram 1 for 37; Darian Caines 1 for 63

Washington Archibald High: 168 all out in 23.3 overs: Jerilius Louis 118 (9X6 and 11 X4); Sargeant 16; B’Quan Powell 16

Carlon Tuckett 4 for 22; Jaden Carmichael 2 for 35; Sharma 2 for 38; Trishawn Francis 1 for 18

CSS winning by 85 runs and securing the coveted trophy, yet again.
