The Ministry of Education and Sports officially launched its highly anticipated Secondary Schools’ Netball Tournament on Tuesday, November 4th, featuring teams from the Charlestown Secondary School (CSS) and Gingerland Secondary School (GSS).
The opening ceremony began with an impressive march past of teams, followed by an official inspection by tournament officials. The event also included brief remarks and endorsement from Mr Allister Thompson, President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Netball Association, and the formal declaration of the tournament open by Ms Zahnela Claxton, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry.
Two matches marked the exciting start of the competition:
Game One (Under-14 Division): CSS edged GSS in a tightly contested battle, winning 18–16.
Game Two (Under-20 Division): After an early challenge from GSS, CSS took full control to claim a comfortable 21–7 victory.
With their dominant performances, the CSS Lions have set the tone for what promises to be an electrifying tournament.
The next round of matches is scheduled for Saturday, November 8th, and fans are encouraged to come out and support the young athletes.
