The Charlestown Secondary School held its annual sports meet on Sunday 5th February, at the Nevis Athletic Stadium.

The meet which was scheduled for a 2 pm start, was held under the distinguished patronage of long-serving track official, Lester Blackett.

The meet got off to a late start, but once it did, it flowed smoothly and the huge crowd was treated to some very competitive races.

Some of those races included the 400, 1500, 1200 and 100 meters.

As the meet neared its climax, there was a grand announcement from the NEVLEC that power would have to be turned off, due to an emergency.

The meet was abruptly halted and there was an intense rush at the exit gate.

The latest scores announced up to that point were:

Blue House 191 points

Red House 180 points

Gold House 173 points

Green House 153 points

The good news is that the meet has been rescheduled for a continuation for today-Wednesday 8th February, at the same venue, starting at 3 pm.

Events to be completed include the 200 meters and the exciting relays.
