HAVANA, Cuba, CMC — Sections of Cuba were rocked by a magnitude 5.5 earthquake early Sunday, according to international seismic agencies.
The earthquake was centred offshore, approximately 34 kilometres from Imías, in eastern Cuba, and was felt in parts of Haiti and the Bahamas. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 15 kilometres.
Seismic agencies initially measured the quake at 5.9, but the magnitude was later revised to 5.5.
Authorities reported that there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries following the earthquake.
