By:Curtis Morton

A team of officials representing the Caribbean Utilities employees Association (CUEA), visited Nevis on Friday 9th September.

This Association is responsible for hosting the annual get together of utility workers across the Caribbean, as they engage in a series of competitive but FUN, sporting activities.

They were escorted to various venues across the island by one of the local coordinators of the regional games, Franklyn KUT Daniel.

Daniel indicated that there are ten member islands who are represented under the umbrella of the Association, and every year at Easter time, they share in the friendly competitive activities.

Earlier this year, the games were held in Barbados and the prestigious event is now set for Nevis, next year. Kut expects some four hundred persons to visit Nevis as part of the contingent, involved in the games.

Speaking to the media on Friday, President of the august body, Antiguan born, Ms. Veronica Yearwood, indicated that the visit by her executive members, is a demonstration of the extensive planning for such activities, coordinated by her association. The team was on the ground, talking with the members of the local organizing committee; visiting the venues for the various events and generally ensuring that everything was in order for the event to proceed.

She noted that this is done for every host island and is a standard procedure.

She also pointed out that the opening and closing ceremonies were being planned for the NEPAC building and there was also a huge possibility that the cultural night presentations, featuring the various islands would also be held there as well.

She stated that they were very impressed with the facility.
