Curriculum Development Unit Announces Change in Test of Standards Dates For 2018

(EMU) – St. Kitts, May 11, 2018: The Curriculum Development Unit announced on Thursday that the dates for the starting date for the Test of Standards for 2018 has been shifted to accommodate the completion of some other important school upgrade activities that are due to take place during the initially scheduled week.
The Test will now be administered in accordance with the following schedule: Tuesday June 19th- Language Arts; Thursday June 21st – Mathematics, Tuesday June 26th – Social Studies and Wednesday June 27th – Science and Technology.
The originally scheduled start was Tuesday June 12th.
The Unit which is currently undertaking a phased transition of the Test of Standards has express apologies for any inconvenience that is caused as a result of the change in date.
During the second term of the 2017-2018 school year the Unit announced that only grades four and six would be given the Test of Standards this year and other necessary changes would be made in the future to ensure that the Test of Standards achieves its objectives.
“The Curriculum Development Unit has been working assiduously,” said Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Mr. William Hodge, “to ensure that its objectives are met in keeping with the ministry’s mission to provide Education For All : Embracing Change, Securing the Future.”
“To make this a reality, the Ministry must assess the effectiveness of the curriculum and in order to do so we must ensure that our process of testing and the testing instruments are accurate and able to produce the desired results,” stated PS Hodge.
