Deputy PM Martin “shocked and saddened” by death of Kevin Newman

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 3RD 2014 (CUOPM) – Deputy Prime Minister the Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin has expressed shock and sadness on Monday following Saturday night’s death of popular bus Mr. Kevin Newman of St. Peters.
“Mr. Newman was a well-known and well liked bus driver who had given years of safe and reliable service to his many loyal customers,” said Dr. Martin in a statement.

“His passengers knew that they could rely on him at all times to deliver them safely to their destinations and it is particularly shocking that while in the faithful provision of his services – on which so many depend – there were those who brought his life to an end,” Dr. Martin added.

Dr. Martin wished the relatives and friends of Kevin Newman to know that the Royal St. Christopher Police Force will spare no effort and no resource in bringing the perpetrator or perpetrators of this dastardly act to justice.

“II urge anyone who may have any information on this matter to ensure that it is brought to the attention of authorities without delay,” said Minister Martin.

He pointed out that as Minister of Transport, he is keenly aware of the vital service that the Federation’s bus drivers provide to the people of the nation.

“I therefore know that bus passengers across the country – and the populace at large – share in my grief and outrage at this most unfortunate turn of events,” Dr. Martin said.
