Development Bank Sponsors Second Annual Softball League

The Development Bank of St.Kitts and Nevis has once again stepped up to the plate by sponsoring what will effectively be the second annual softball tournament on the island of Nevis.

In 2012 the Bank sponsored the inaugural tournament which was initiated by then Minister of Sports, Hon. Hensley Daniel. That tournament which generated quite a lot of excitement and interest focused on male and female teams in the St.John’s area.

In a brief ceremony held at the Nevis Branch of the renowned institution, Branch Manager Ms Hyacinth Pemberton noted that throughout the years, her institution has been actively involved in the lives of the people of Nevis in varying ways.

She pointed out that this policy was in keeping with the Bank’s motto which states: ‘The bank that lends a helping hand.’

She then handed over the cheque valued $5,000.00 EC to Ag.Director of Sports, Mr. Jamir Claxton.

Claxton gratefully accepted the cheque on behalf of the Department and Ministry of Sports.

He thanked the Bank for supporting the initiative of the Department and Ministry of Sports and indicated that the tournament this year will be open to teams from across the entire island.

He also made the declaration that the tournament which is scheduled to commence on Thursday 28th of November will be officially dubbed: “The Development Bank of St.Kitts and Nevis Softball league.

Claxton later indicated that a meeting will be held with all interested teams on Monday 28th October at the ET Willet Park at 5:00 p.m.

At this meeting, teams will be updated as regards the disbursement of prize monies and the general rules of the upcoming tournament.
