Embracing The Philosophy Of Community Policing

n keeping with the community policing initiatives of Commissioner CG Walwyn and the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the Nevis Division of The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force conducted a community walkthrough. This walkthrough was organised to meet and greet members of the communities they serve. The walkthroughs were first conducted in St. Kitts byInspector Rosemarie Roberts in Stapleton Village and then on to Division B in St. Kitts by Superintendents Vaughn Henderson and Andre Mitchell.

This is the second of a series of planned walkthroughs which are planned and lead by Assistant Commissioner of Police Robert Liburd who leads the Nevis Division. Superintendent Hilroy Brandy, Inspector Franklyn Belgrove, Inspector Conrad Bertie, and other officers of the Division, along with K-9 Lorry and its handler, visited the communities of Ramsbury, Craddock Road and other nearby residential areas, in the Charlestown area.

The citizens familiarised themselves with the officers who worked in their communities and voiced their concerns about pubic safety with the leadership. Assistant Commissioner Robert Liburd personally addressed a number of their concerns. Many residents were pleased with this step taken by Assistant Commissioner Liburd and his team. Some residents stated that they saw this walkthrough as a positive step in enhancing the relationship between the police force and residents in the areas patrolled.
