Empire sports club president congratulates players.

Long serving President of the Empire Sports club, which is one of the top sporting bodies on the island, Mr. Eric Evelyn, took time out on Wednesday, to publicly congratulate members of his club, for excelling.

Firstly, he commended Adelvin Phillip on his selection as Captain of the Nevis senior team which will leave for Antigua today, in order to participate in the upcoming Leeward Islands 50 overs tournament.

‘Adelvin is a hard worker and has excelled as a coach at the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School. He has also played in the leagues in England and done well.

He has worked hard at his game and it is now paying off,’ said Evelyn.

He also took time out to congratulate other members of his club who have made it into the Nevis team: Kejel Tyson; Justin Athanaze and Nelson Bolan.

While he was at it, Evelyn also congratulated another club member, Kieran Powell, who has made his way back into the West Indies team and noted that it was all because of his work ethics.

Looking into the future, Evelyn spoke to the development of Cricket grounds in the Hanley’s road area but seemed more inclined to be pushing to ensure that the Gingerland Recreation grounds, aka BALL PASTURE, is elevated to a first class Cricketing venue.

In speaking to the Nevis team, who he described as ‘a bunch of talented guys,’ Evelyn admonished: ‘Bring home the gold!’
