Residents of Saint Kitts and Nevis are being praised for their continued commitment to protecting the environment after strong recycling results were recorded for the month of February.
According to the latest figures, 17,144.43 pounds of recyclable materials were successfully diverted from the nation’s landfills during the month. Environmental officials say the achievement reflects the growing awareness and participation of citizens across both islands in recycling initiatives.
Cardboard led the way, with more than 7,000 pounds collected and recycled throughout the Federation. Recycling efforts for plastic and metal also remained strong, contributing significantly to the overall total.
Officials noted that every item properly sorted and recycled helps to reduce landfill waste, conserve resources, and support a cleaner, greener environment for the country.
The public is being encouraged to maintain the momentum as recycling efforts continue into the coming months, with environmental advocates hoping the positive trend will grow even stronger throughout the year.
