Football : Bath United Win Inaugural Antigua-Nevis Cup

The Bath United Football team returned to Nevis triumphant on Monday morning, after convincingly winning the inaugural Antigua-Nevis cup, which was held at the Piggott’s playing field in Antigua.

Some four teams participated in the tournament: Bath United; Piggott’s Bullets; Young Warriors and Young Lions.

Bath won their preliminary games convincingly, winning the first game with a score line of 2 goals to nil and the second by a margin of 3 goals to 1.

They went into Sunday’s finals leading on points, but Manager Alex Claxton said that his team went into that final game versus Young Lions, not just wanting to win but to win by a wide margin That they did.

The final score was a whopping 5 goals to nil in favour of Bath United.

The team landed safely at the Vance Amory Airport around 10.30 am on Monday, proudly sporting their gold medals and the coveted cup.

Claxton stated that he was extremely proud of the team and pointed out that they stuck to the game plan and executed well.

Manager Jermaine Bartlette was grateful to all of the sponsors, including the Nevis Island Administration and –
Captain Omarion Bartlette, who was incidentally named player of the series, with his four goals, stated that he was incredibly proud of his teammates and indicated that the experience gained from the tour, would only help to improve the team’s chances in the SKNFA league.
