Football : Nevis Academy Stuns EPPS

‘The Nevis Academy team is in this thing to compete, not just to participate.’

The declaration was made by one ardent supporter of the school, who along with the entire school, showed up to support their team, as they engaged the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary (EPPS), in match two of the 2023 Primary Schools’ football tournament, played on Wednesday 18th October.

To the surprise of many, the Nevis Academy dominated the first half and even though they did not score, they certainly pressured the EPPS goal constantly.

They commenced the second half with similar fervor and eventually Isaiah Herbert struck the back of the net and went knee-skating in celebration.

Not long after, one of the Nevis Academy’s defenders struck home with a free kick and Nevis Academy was large and in charge with a scoreline of 2 goals to nil.

In the latter moments of the half, however, the EPPS team appeared to have awoken from slumber and started piling on pressure of their own.

They too struck the back of the net and had at least five more chances to equalize and go ahead, but failed to finish.

Final score: Nevis Academy 2 EPPS 1
