Four Charged In the Seizure Of, 1 Kilo of Cocaine and Large Quantity of Marijuana Seized On Saturday

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 16, 2015 (RSCNPF): The four (4) persons arrested in connection with a drug seizure on Saturday (November 14) in the Irishtown area have been charged. According to reports, at approximately 3.00 p. m on Saturday, members of the SSU and Anti-Narcotic Unit were on a routine patrol along the Bay Road in Irishtown in the vicinity of the Garden Housing Project and observed and monitored some suspicious activity.

The observation by the officers resulted in the arrest of Bevin Taylor of Salt Pond Alley, Irishtown. He has been subsequently charged with the possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to supply and importation of cocaine. Taylor received the cocaine with street value of ECC $89,100.00 in an orange and white bucket that was thrown to him by one of the two occupants on a small boat that entered the bay.

Two occupants on the boat, Rafael Chapman and Merlin Murrain Matos, both nationals of the Dominican Republic who indicated they are living in Nevis have been charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to supply and importation of cocaine.

A subsequent search of Taylor’s residence in Irishtown resulted in the discovery and seizure of 50.7lbs of Marijuana. As a result of that seizure, Taylor has also been charged with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply. Dennial Rouse a resident of the property on Salt Pond Alley, was also on site during the search and he too has been charged with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
