BASSETERRE, St. Kitts,– Four cruise ships berthed at St. Kitts’ Port Zante on Thursday, bringing a total of 11,213 sun-and-fun-seeking passengers to the island. This latest influx brings the total number of cruise passengers for the week to 25,370 to date.
The vessels in port on Thursday were Celebrity Beyond with 2,382 passengers, Arvia** with 5,030 passengers, Zuiderdam with 1,903 passengers, and the Marella Explorer with 1,898 passengers.
Most passengers, along with scores of crew members, came ashore, keeping taxi drivers, tour operators, vendors, restaurateurs, and other stakeholders in the tourism sector busy throughout the day.
Visitors shopped for locally made crafts, souvenirs, perfumes, and jewellery at Port Zante, while others participated in organised and customised island tours across St. Kitts via taxis and the St. Kitts Scenic Railway.
Popular stops included **Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, Romney Manor and Batik, Black Rocks, and several of the island’s well-known beaches for sea and sun bathing. Many passengers also explored Basseterre, visiting historic and cultural landmarks such as the Berkeley Memorial at the Circus, St. George’s Anglican Church, the **Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral, Independence Square, the War Memorial, and Palms Court**.
Other activities enjoyed by visitors included hiking Mount Liamuiga, snorkelling, sailing to Nevis, golfing, casino gaming, shopping, and patronising local bars and restaurants across the island.
Cruise activity is expected to continue on Friday, January 9, with the arrival of the Wind Spirit and Costa Pacifica . Additionally, four ships—Norwegian Sky, Odyssey of the Seas, Costa Fascinosa, and **Koningsdam—are scheduled to dock at Port Zante.
