(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Four crew members along with the Captain of Four Seasons vessel ‘Nevisian Spirit’ were all formally arrested and charged for drug possession.

A Police Press Release publicized the name of five men, four from Nevis and one from St. Kitts. The men were charged with possession of cannabis and possession with the intent to supply to another.

The names given were Wasim Richards of Ramsbury Site, Nevis, Jermaine Pemberton of New Castle, Nevis, Kemroy Simmonds of Hermitage Village, Nevis, Captain Robert Gregory Roberts of Stoney Grove, Nevis and the lone Kittitian Damion Jeffers of Ponds Pasture.

These charges stem from a drug bust at the Port Zante Marina on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 when a young pregnant female dropped off a package to the vessel while it was docked. It is said that the female is from Nevis but lives in St. Kitts and attends the CFB College on a teacher’s training course. She has not been charge.

Nevispages understands, that based on information received a joint operation was conducted between the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police and Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise Department. This led to the drug bust and the discovery and confiscation of two bales of compressed marijuana.

‘I would like to take the opportunity to thank all those persons who were involved in this operation for the role played, and encourage all civic minded individuals to continue to support the Law Enforcement Bodies in the discharge of their duties by reporting criminal activities, and suspicious activities and persons to the authorities’, stated Commissioner CG Walwyn in the Police Press Release.

Police confirmed that investigation into the matter continues.
