The Friends’ Bar is the champion of the Clash of the Shops football tournament, hosted by the Bath United Football Club. On Sunday 4th October, the final game in the best of three series was played, versus the Corner Shop. It was an exciting contest.
Friends Bar scored first but Corner Shop responded with a goal of their own.
In the second half, a sizzling right booter from Aljae Newton, saw the Friend’s go up 2 goals to 1 and with minutes ticking away in the game, the Corner Shop tried desperately to equalize, but Hasan Harvey pulled off a few stunning saves.
Final score: Friends Bar 2 Corner Shop 1
Winston Perry and Aljae Newton scored for the Friends bar and Vibert Stephen scored for the Corner Shop.
The closing ceremony followed immediately after. The following top awards were presented:
Most goals – CJ Parris with 6 goals, beating Curtis Morton Jr’s 5
Best defender – Rasean Browne
Best midfielder – Romario Daniel
Best goalkeeper – Hasan Harvey
Most impactful under 14 player-Chris Browne
All of the participating shops were presented with an appreciation plaque.
