The funeral service for the late Oneil “Daddy Shakes Bonzo” Walters was held at the Charlestown Seventh-day Adventist Church, where family, friends, and members of the cricket community gathered to pay their final respects.
Walters, a long-standing player for the Nevis Masters cricket team, was honoured with a special tribute from his teammates. Manager Oscar “Astro” Browne, along with Carlisle Powell and Carl Tuckett, delivered heartfelt remarks, supported by other team members. The tribute highlighted Walters’ invaluable contribution to the team—not only as a reliable wicketkeeper and dependable batsman, but also as a bowler when needed.
He was once adjudged Best Wicketkeeper in an Over-35s tournament held in St. Maarten and was celebrated for his unwavering commitment to the team, even during his illness.
Following the service, his body was laid to rest at the Bath Cemetery.
The Nevis cricket fraternity joins the wider community in extending condolences to his wife, two children, and all who mourn his passing.
