The Charlestown Secondary School (CSS), held its annual sports meet on Tuesday 20th February, at the ET Willet Park.
The meet was held under the distinguished patronage of Mr. Dwayne Warner, former student and all round athlete at the school.
He indicated that he was honoured to be the patron and actually always anticipated being asked to fill the prestigious role. He noted that he continues to contribute to the school, in the training of athletes and in other ways as well.
The athletes competed in the 400; 200; 800; 100; 4X100; 4X400; 1200 and 1500 meters and several athletes delivered record breaking performances and new records were established as follows:
T’Anna Liburd of Gold house–400; 1200; 800 and 200 meters-Class B-all records
Class C 1200 meters-Esther Gomez-Green house
Class D 100 meters –Isheniah Saddler-Blue house
Trabelse Henry- Class 3 -1200 meters -Red house
Alexander Caines-Class B-800 meters- Gold house
Relay-4X100 meters-Class B.
Some of the other outstanding athletes on the day, were: Leroy Chapman; Teneisha Perkins; Cileen Hendrickson; Timothy Caines and Shama Wallace.
The huge crowd on hand, thoroughly enjoyed the proceedings and gave full support to the athletes of their choice.
