One of the most egregious failures of the previous administration was its inability to advance the Nevis Geothermal Project.

Upon taking office, the Federal Government, in collaboration with the Nevis Island Administration, mobilised every available resource—financial, political, and diplomatic—to move this transformative project forward.

Today, a company has been selected, funds have been disbursed, and a delegation has travelled to Iceland to inspect the drilling rig.

This represents a tremendous achievement for our Federation.

Energy independence is paramount for every nation, particularly small island states like ours. We currently import fuel at high and unpredictable prices, over which we have little control. These costs affect electricity rates, businesses, households, and our economy as a whole.

Geothermal energy offers us the opportunity to generate reliable, cleaner, and more affordable electricity from our own natural resources. Its benefits can extend to every citizen and every sector across Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Let us continue working together, with the Federal Government and the Nevis Island Administration collaborating to deliver this nationally important project.

Let us support geothermal energy not simply as an island project, but as a Federation project. Cheaper and more reliable energy will benefit us all.

We remain focused on delivering progress and putting people first.
