Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis — The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis commenced its 2027 Budget Estimates Committee Meetings, bringing together Cabinet Ministers, senior government officials, Permanent Secretaries, and Heads of Departments to review ministerial priorities and spending proposals in preparation for the Federation’s 2027 National Budget.
The high-level deliberations are being held in the Ministry of Finance Conference Room under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Honourable Dr Terrance Drew.
Throughout the week, ministries will present their proposed programmes, strategic priorities, and expenditure plans for the upcoming fiscal year. The sessions will also facilitate a comprehensive review of performance under the current budget cycle, providing an opportunity to assess key achievements, evaluate the effectiveness of public spending, and identify areas for improvement.
The Estimates Committee Meetings constitute a critical stage in the national budget preparation process, enabling the Government to scrutinise ministerial submissions, assess resource requirements, and establish fiscal priorities in keeping with its broader development agenda. The exercise also reinforces the importance of prudent financial management, transparency, and accountability in the allocation and utilisation of public resources.
Through this process, the Government aims to ensure that budgetary decisions are informed by the needs of ministries and departments, aligned with national development objectives, and directed towards delivering meaningful outcomes for the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The meetings form part of the Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen fiscal planning and ensure that the 2027 National Budget reflects the Federation’s priorities, supports sustainable development, and advances the well-being of citizens and residents.
