Advisory #3

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has been closely monitoring the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) situation as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce the risk of the disease entering the Federation.

The Ebola outbreak continues to constitute a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) due to its high case-fatality rate, sustained transmission, increasing incidence in certain affected areas, and continued geographical expansion.

In light of the latest updates from the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the World Health Organization (WHO), the following eight (8) countries have been identified as high-risk areas for Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) transmission and/or importation:

The eight (8) countries are:

Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)

Uganda

South Sudan

Rwanda

Kenya

Burundi

Nigeria

Central African Republic

Therefore, non-nationals who have visited any of these countries within 21 days prior to their arrival in the Federation will not be permitted to enter. This restriction also applies to all non-national passengers who have made an intermediate stop in any of these eight (8) countries, regardless of whether they disembarked or remained on board the aircraft.

Nationals and citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis are strongly advised to avoid all non-essential travel to these countries. However, nationals and citizens who return to the Federation within 21 days of travelling to any of these countries will be subject to mandatory enhanced screening at the port of entry and required to complete 21 days of self-quarantine.
